Previous version of Windows Media Player

Why is KM using an old version of Windows Media Player - 6.4.09. instead of 11.0 - when I visit the following page?

http://v2.player.abacast.com/player/playerjazz.php?pid=jazz24&stream=bb

I have to use FF so I can hear the music.

I am afraid it is Your settings.

This is made with mine.

BTW. Nice music & thx for the URL!

That is media my player - and not 6.x?

Do "about : config" & set plugins full path - true, then do "about : plugins". (no spaces in the "Url"). To see Your settings and paths.

AFAIK You need these two, like mine (else we post all our "about : plugins" to compare what is wrong. )

1.) If the Firefox is installed only for FPox %apdata% ... extensions, go there & copy plugins (look into firefox extension folder if it does not show for K-meleon as well & it is normal that nobody except us supports this browser - afterthought: not normal for a Netscape plugin! >-( ) - folder to K-Meleon ./plugins.

I assume this is likely. You set it up as firefox extension and installed the old. BTW - the old media player & plugin is not as flashy but does AFAIK the same job

2.) installer for general activeX support is at jujuland's K-meleon extension page.

p.s. sorry about my English and that i am tired, maybe incoherent.

The site may have excluded 6.4 - technically 6.4 should be able to get streams.

Now, why wouldn't it work with my portable version of KM? It gets the older version going even on the same computer.

How can I tell? It is exactly the same version as the one from the C drive.

Right click on np-mswmp.dll - the bottom entry of the windows popup menu.
In German it is named "Eigenschaften", open it, it gives version info, who made it, what mimetypes are supportd...

How embarassing. I look like a total debutant.

I have version 1.0.0.8 as well, but mine doesn't works on a USB.

Those plugins don't make it very easy. I can just imagine a novice user trying to make them work. I had to install Flash Player 10 yesterday and it wouldn't work with KM (C drive or UScool smiley. I had to copy the DLL file as well. Everything is fine with Flash now.

Anyway, the Media Player issue is not critical. It's not like I need it for work. However, I should let you know that I get an error with MP when I try to play Jazz24 from the USB.

2.) Flashplayer is inside that big dll You copied!
I wish I knew and had an all-in-one mp3 music plugin like that.

3.) Actually there is a bug in Media player. It does not know Geckos as browsers.
It might that causing Your problems. If You have access to the PC?
