How can I disable the search completion in 1.5?

Not sure if this is correct wording, but here's a screen shot of what I mean, I want to disable this.

This is a Google.com feature.
For example in Google.es isn't implemented yet.

you can disable it in google preferences:

but once the cookie monster gets you.. you will have to re-enable it.

When the heck did they enable this? I've used Google since the day it was born and only started seeing this over the past month is all.

This really sucks, really damm annoying, I've surfed the Web 20+ years just fine without, and I don't need it now.

Anyone know a feedback URL? I'm going to tell them the feature SUCKS!

yahoo implemented it first and google decided they must have it too.
try sending them feedback there: http://www.google.com/contact

i don't think they'll remove it unless they get enough complaints

you can use google.co.uk or google.ca because thye don't have that feature yet, i believe in the end they'll add it to all their locales.

another way to override it(though not practical): if you have noscript, add google.com.. this should kill-off the completion but all google services will suffer too and if you have googlemail; you will not be able to use most of its' features.

Can't find any feedback in there...

Anyhow I've switched to Dogpile, GOODBYE Google!

Type about:config into your address bar, promise to beware of the dragons and then in the search box on the page that opens type keyword.URL

Double click on that line and a box should pop up: type http://www.google.com/search?q= into the box and click OK. Close the about:config tab and restart Firefox. You should now have Google back.

If you use a hosts file or Adblock, this entry will stop search completion in Google:

clients1.google.com

I can't say that I care for Google search completion.
