Very nice adaptation. Very fast with flashblock on. However, with flash on, there are some glitches as it seems to interfere with clicking bookmarks and such - nothing that causes the browser to fail, just an irritation.
Proxy works great - you can transfer your settings for passwords, bookmarks into the profile easily without breaking it. While you can copy bookmarks over to \prefs, iconcache.dat cannot be copied. The good news is that if you add the following values into pref.js - the favicons now work:
user_pref("browser.chrome.favicons", true);
user_pref("kmeleon.favicons.titleBar", true);
IconCache.dat will seemingly not insert some favicons without these values.
Perhaps, it is a difference between Vista and XP but the default background for the favicon is black; whereas in XP is white or off-white. However, the favicons now display and are not completely blackened out.
This version acts more like a tabbed rather than a layered default. Though I have not been through all the button remappings, unlike v3 which used the scroll button to open and close a tab, v4 does not do so as a default.
Still, this is a very fast browser. Thank you Hao.

Hao

I'd like so suggest a little but powerful things ...

1. Multiline tabbar with parameters of tab size ...and horizontal scroll bar for tabs.
Because sometimes so much tabs need to use ... .

2. Sessions format compatible with SessionManager extension of FF. It writes each session to single file in a folder (not in one pref file).
To manage and store sessions better.

K-MeleonCCF ME 0.09 Beta1 V4 seemed ok but V5 has been mentioned here:
http://kmeleon.blogspot.com/2008/06/release-notes-minimized-chrome-faster.html

I'm not sure why there was no K-meleonCCF ME 00.9 Beta1 V5 thread in this Kmeleon forum. Did Hao forget to make one?

I cannot answer for Hao, but there does seem to be a version 5. Have downloaded it to see what it is like. Thanks for finding it noel-pg2.

This newer version that noel-pg2 has found is faster than its predecessors. Hao has fixed the favicons so that they display properly. You still have to insert:
user_pref("browser.chrome.favicons", true);
user_pref("kmeleon.favicons.titleBar", true);
into pref.js to display all the icons - but now they are very clear for XP SP3.
The only problem I encountered so far is with javascripts. Whenever a javascript commands a window to be brought up, Version 5 stalls and will not bring it up. Hao usually does not bring up smaller windows but brings up a new tab instead. However, when a javascript is used to bring up a window or tab, it stalls. I have not found the toggle to make it work properly or it could be a bug. Very fast browser.
It does have a tendency not to clear itself from memory on shutdown as happened with its predecessors.
