About the placement of the profile

May not I decide the placement of the profile freely?

I do not want to put setting in Document and setting as much as possible.
The reason is because it takes trouble of the backup.
My ideal and the place for setting to do are form such as Netscape communicator4.8.
This is possible in FireFox.
The reason is because there is option called "firefox.exe" -profilemanager.
May not it easily decide a position of the setting in K-Meleon freely?

OMG, where have you been? This has been discussed ad infinitum.

Look in to the profile.ini file in your K-Meleon directory.

Mine reads:
[profile]
path=.
IsRelative=1

Good nights and congratulations on the advances on you english, now it's very easy to understand you :-)

About the profiles, yes, as far as I know there are two possible locations for the profiles folder, on doccuments and settings or in a sub folder inside the main K-Meleon folder (generally in c:\Program Files\K-Meleon\Profiles).

To change that you should use the SetDefault.exe file to properly config K-Meleon.

When you first install K-Meleon there's an option in the installation menu about that. I don't know what it says in english (I'm spanish and I use the spanish version), but you can find it easily because it talks about multi user profiles and is checked by default. Unchecking this will store the profile inside K-Meleon's folder.

Good luck and good nights.

Hi erica,
You can select this in installation options with the option: 'Multi-profile'
If you select this option profile is generated in 'Documents and settings' (windows user profile) if you uncheck it a filed named profile.ini is generated in K-Meleon folder that forced to K-Meleon to generate profile in 'Profiles' K-Meleon's subfolder.
profile.ini file can be generated after installation by you: (also can be empty)
This is default code in profile.ini file:

[profile]
path=profiles
IsRelative=1

If you like, you can change the path value to other relative folder to generate in this place yours profiles.

If you change IsRelative value to 0 you can change path value for a full path folder.

Also K-Meleon have a profile manager in menu:
Edit -> Manage profiles...

Greetings.
