Well yall, I've done it now. I was messing with the view settings and I turned off the File, View, etc. menu. Now I cant get to it to turn it back on. I hope there's an easy way to correct this, but I'm not familiar with the browser.

you could try disabling the rebar menu under Edit>Preferences>Plugins... this should bring the normal menu back, at least... then maybe re-enabling it will bring back the rebar version... or maybe not?

Locate your menus.cfg file with an texteditor (beneath Kmleon-Dir, Profile .. somewhere there.)

Then go up some dirs to
..\K-Meleon\defaults\profile\

where you will find a 'fresh' menus.cfg which you can copy.

hmm... yeah... come to think of it, there's no accelerator for ID_PREFERENCES by default, either... you could add one to your accel.cfg file, and get to the prefs dialog that way, or you could try editing your prefs.js directly, by adding this line:

user_pref("kmeleon.plugins.favorites.rebar", false);

or, better yet, create a file named user.js in the same directory and add the line to that. when you start k-meleon, it should bring normal menus back... i hope.

I can only find one menu.cfg file and its the one under \K-Meleon\defaults\profile\ . I tried editing the prefs file and it didn't work.

Try \K-Meleon\Profiles\default[junk]\
Your current config should be in there.

the default dir is - afaik - the skeleton dir from which you get fresh installations for new profiles. You'r actual settings resides under \k-melon\profile[profilename][randomstring]

You have to copy the menu.cfg to this place and restart to take effect.

i pasted the wrong pref, it shoulda been

user_pref("kmeleon.plugins.rebarmenu.load", false);

but if you really didn't have a menus.cfg file, then i guess i was barking up the wrong tree anyway...

I dont have a \K-Meleon\Profiles directory. I think I'll just uninstall and reinstall. It wont take long, I've got broadband. Thanks for your help!
