I have to say....I just downloaded K-Meleon, and although I've been a fan of the Mozilla project, it's bloat & interface have been the problem....and to have a windows client that just allows for the best part of the project (Gecko) to shine through.
For a first release, this is increcible. Keep up the good work!
Let me jump on the bandwagon also. This is a great product! Thanks so much for creating this browser. I can see this becoming a great challenger for IE.
Well, I write this already with my new favourite browser!
I use 98lite so I never saw IE on my machine. And Netscape,
well, just loads too long only to browse some news pages.
Anyone recommending a bookmark editor for IE without IE?
I would like to be able to save pages/frames; otherwise I'm
well fitted!
This looks great. Far more stable than Mozilla (it has run for 5mins without crashing so far) and INCREDABLY fast. All it need now is a couple of important features (https, context menus, saving pages) and I will have a new favorite browser.
Just go to http://docs.iplanet.com/docs/manuals/psm/psm-mozilla/#build and download the PSM. You might have to use Mozilla to do the installing, but after that, it should work with KMeleon. (At least it works that way with Galeon on Linux)
It's a great proof-of-concept and actually somewhat useful already as a light browser.
Of course there's lots missing (on both the Gecko and the Kmeleon sides), so that IE is still better on most counts. Even speed-wise IE seems faster on a lot of pages, but the absence of swapping with Kmeleon/Gecko is awesome. I think it's a definite improvement on the Mozilla packaging, which seems to have a lot of stuff I don't use.
