I think that in so far as K-Meleon does not have any file-type adjustment options, WMP does not open mpeg by default from the browser. So you probably have to do what Brian says or install QuickTime for viewing those mpegs directly from K-Meleon.

The default extensions opened by WMP from K-Meleon should be asf, asx, wm, wma, wax, wmv and wvx.

that's right you need quick time...
