J'ai installé sur mon pc avec W XP k-méléon 74.0
l'affichage de la page d'accueil est très long alors qu'avec des versions antérieures, c'était très rapide: est-ce normal?
je voulais nettoyer le cache mais je ne sais pas comment y aller et où le trouver

Times have changed - browsers are waiting for adverisment and behaviour tracker pages often now.

You can improve the speed if You install a addblocking extension.

Addblock plus works and BluHell partly works (needs less resources).

Cache F2 Reasau/Performance Cache ... Effacer?

Autrement: Affichage -> Barres d'outils - activer -> Confidentialite - serrer Cache

Peut-etre il aide aussi de creer un nouveau profil:
Edition > Gerer les profils > Demander au lancement
Alors fermer KM et l'ouvrir de nouveau, choisir un "nouveau" profil.

Le view profil n'est pas perdu, on peux choisir un des profiles chaque fois qu'on ouvre KM de nouveau.

Ouf... pourrais-tu aussi lire en anglais? ;-)

Must say I don't even have an idea what the prob is, if all pages are so sluggish or only a specific one? But often old profiles are the culprit, and he did use older versions, so can't harm to test with a new profile...
Installing AB+ seems already highly complicated in english to explain, and even harder to understand. No chance with additional language probs. And if it would help at all is a whole different question. Oh well, I have no clue how it's installed myself, never needed it yet on KM74 :cool:
And did he ever try with the native, far simpler adblocker?
Or did he try disabling the FF compat mode?? There were a few people recently who said KM is much faster without it, at least on some major pages!

That's all nothing any of us non-natives could explain. It's a major struggle with even the most simple tech terms already, for example what in the world is "restart" in french?? Just way too hard, and if his english is so bad, only you can even try to explain something as complicated as AB+ installation - good luck ;-) But I do suspect the prob lies elsewhere, somewhere in the configuration. Hm, and what was it about startup-cache that was mentioned so often? Really I don't know what I'm doing here, having no clue myself ;-P

1.) Drop this into ./k-meleon74/macros/

2.) Create folder ./k-meleon74/browser/extensions

3.) Get newest addblock plus from its firefox page. It works for K-Meleon!
Maybe use another browser to download.

4.) Rename xpi to

{d10d0bf8-f5b5-c8b4-a8b2-2b9879e08c5d}.xpi

5.) place it

./k-meleon74/browser/extensions/{d10d0bf8-f5b5-c8b4-a8b2-2b9879e08c5d}.xpi

6.) Restart K-Meleon go URL about:addons open addblock preferences it will be French

7.) import block list.

p.s. IMHO You can reuse old macros for old version from k-meleon extension page
and use together with new addblock. Maybe try this as experiment.

I can't find that in my config. Mine has

xpinstall.enabled;false

Are we on the same page here? Or does "xpinstallext.kmm" change the config entry?

What a kmm does you can check by reading inside it.

But I don't have the slightest clue what those two prefs really do??

Reading on mozilla sites, the "xpinstall" pref only seems to prevent the *installation of NEW addons*, and doesn't even have any effect when installing from about:addons, there it's ignored completely (unless was changed again in later FF versions, no idea). And if not existing, it is "true" by default. It sounds like just an additional security block for extra-cautious users only...
But what does that mean for manually dropping a xpi in the folders??
Are any automatic KM actions needed afterwards that somehow change a registry entry or something similar hidden inside KM??

And then there's all that confusing manifest stuff, extension manifests and a global chrome.manifest is explained on kmext.sf.net
And this install.rdf for every pref, that sometimes keeps its original random number as ID OR sometimes can have kmeleon@ as ID, and is that mandatory to be the same as the xpi-name or not...

Toogle xpinstall.enabled;false. That is a Firefox/Mozilla pref.
Then You can edit install.rdf to add K-Meleon's ID and install I think.

Yes the kmm creates kmeleon.install_firefox_extension and offers a menue item to toggle in Edit IMHO. I think JamesD made that intentionally to help DAUs like me that forget things. http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?9,128836,129085#msg-129085

Guess I am here for too long and should go. Since I take too much for granted.

I simply know that if I am told to alter a pref that does not exist, it is a default pref that I must create first. Firefox also has such implicit prefs. Or I am told rubbish, or obsolete things.
So that I must use google or do a Forum search.

I somewhere wrote in a post what I installed to minimise the effect of comptibility checking of addons in FF and KM and to help with addon installing. checkCompatibility 1.3, Mr. Tech Toolkit...

I totally agree - but Russian for You and French for delagui do not work well with 74+1.
