The error console has been empty and I have been checking it daily to see if it populates. While at http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/list.php?1 I checked it and it reported the following warning:

The error console reports many more warnings much the same but I have no problems loading web pages.

When I click on the warning the Notepad document opens, but about 5 seconds after opening the Notepad document the browser crashes. The Event Viewer reports the following:

ModVer: 1.9.1.3997 Offset: 00106d2f

I am using Windows XP Home Edition.

You have configured Notepad as source-viewer?

Without external viewer there is no crash.

Can you tell me how/where you configured Notepad
including command line?

Do you use original /chrome/*.jar files of 1.6b2?

This is neerly impossible.

Errors from kmeleon.sourceforge.net are blocked by default.

Error Console -> Options -> Manage Domain Blocker...

Since that exception was set desga2 corrected the old errors on the Forums page.

We can hardly reproduce this freak accident, even if You delete the URL from being blocked, You do not get the old error readings, that were the reasons to block SF. I already tried with deactivated URL@SF. No error.

Now, following any error message to viewSource.xul via clicking a blue marked URL

This opens the viewSource.xul = "K-Meleon's internal source code error viewer".

This feature has reproducable errors that lead to crashes. This is a known bug.
Go try take the croll bar & the scroll in it ... & crash.

deadlock has recently posted a ./chrome/embed.jar that works arround this problem.

He was friendly enough to post the altered embed.jar for 1.6.bta2 at dhohost.info for download.

p.s. For me deadlock's post looks like a fix but he explained to me that it was a work around currently/only.

Just unpack and drop the altered embed.jar file into the chrome folder of 1.6 replacing the original embed.jar file.

Now I'm confused.:s Should I use "Error Console -> Options -> Manage Domain Blocker..." or "altered embed.jar for 1.6.bta2 at dhohost.info for download."?

If you use 1.6beta 2 without having changed anything in
k-meleon/chrome/ folder of your installation,
the browser will crash if you drag content in the window that
pops up from Error Console. Scrolling/resizing will crash too.

If you want to use it like in KM 1.54 you can download a
replacement for K-Meleon/chrome/embed.jar from dhost.

embed_1.6.0_Beta2_en-US.7z

Overwrite embed.jar in K-Meleon/chrome/ with it.

K-Meleon must be configured for the changes on next start.
So shut down K-Meleon and delete these files:

K-Meleon\components\compreg.dat
K-Meleon\components\xpti.dat
%Path To Your Profile%\xul.mfl (search disk for it)

It will create new ones.

It will not crash with this replacement.

Sorry Charlie, my senior moments - I got distracted

Check in Manage Domain Blocker that errors here from SF are blocked/made impossible.

Use deadlock#s altered embed.jar to avoid the crash when tracing a code error.

Sorry, I neglected to mention that it was the Windows XP Event Viewer I posted.

@ guenter. I to have a bit of a senior moment, more often than I would care to admit, especially when I am medicated which is usually the case these days.

chrome://console2/content/console2.xul
in the URL bar. Is this supposed to be the result?

A tab? No .:-)

You should undo your changes.
Maybe KM 1.6b2 is not your installed version,
or you didn't delete the .dat/.mfl files,
or a macro is messing it up.

did u click the ALL button in the console, caktus? you might get something when you click the All button, which I am getting.

so far, no crashes with KM 1.6b2 on my XP SP3 Pro bedroom computer.
but with KM 1.6b2 on Vista, I only get few crashes when exiting or closing the whole K-meleon 1.6b2 program.

I have Km 1.6 rc2. I use it on public comp. It works normally, but if I take USB out and plug it in back again, Kmeleon opens without icons for extensions, I cannot access any site. The Win gave me message that something is wrong with this files:

C:\Users\UPORABNIK\AppData\Local\Temp\WERF65F.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
C:\Users\UPORABNIK\AppData\Local\Temp\WER1268.tmp.appcompat.txt

Restarting Win doesn't help, but when I use it the next day, all is fine again. I have downloaded another version of Km portable and it doesn't work as well.

So I guess that something is wrong with Win, but what?

Can't help you except to note that I too use the regular KM (single user) on a USB stick, but don't see your errors.

It started a couple of days ago. Before it was just fine. I deleted Km on USB and copied another version of it into the USB. Maybe this will help ...

Disrupted is one who knows about this kind of stuff... I vaguely recall that corrupted files, probably profile stuff???? is the culprit.

I copied Km and backup profile as I said and now it works.

Lifehacker.com constantly freezes when I open 3 or four links inside at the same time it with JavaScript enabled. Only cure: reanimation. Opening only one link at the time seems to do the job.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you Guy’s on this, I’ve been out of town for the weekend. Also, I have been going through he11 trying to get 1.6b2 to work WITH me rather than AGAINST me. For some reason 1.6b2 would crash about 99% of the time. I tried replacing the K-Meleon/chrome/embed.jar that deadlock posted with the origional embed.jar but even with the origional embed.jar still I got the blank tab instead of an Error Console. I undid and redid this process several times but still I only got a blank tab rather than the Error Console, I am guessing that I must have screwed-up the Profile some how. A new problem I had begun experiencing with 1.6b2, 1.6b2 had begun using 99% of CPU resources and only restarting the computer could fix this, temporarily. I think I read somewhere that using one of the versions of AB+ can cause this problem with 1.6b2.

I've gotten rid of 1.6b2 and am again using 1.5.4. I really wish I could keep using and helping to identify problems with 1.6b2 but with my short-term mem loss and meds, the deck is stacked against me. I thank everyone for trying to help me the fix the problems I was experiencing with 1.6b2 and I love the speed with which 1.6 loads pages:drool: but I will have to wait until 1.6 is in final release.
