Hello,

My bookmarks disappear regularly. Could anybody tell me how to resolve this problem?

Thank you in advance,

Terrail77

Ps: My system is Millenium and K-meleon 1.5.4

Lots of answers can be found in Help > FAQ

Anyway, you have your profile-folder write-protected. If you don't know how to unlock it, and have nothing customized yet, you'd best place your profile into the windows user folder. How:
Delete file "profile.ini" in c://program files/K-Meleon
(your path may vary)
After next browser start you have a new default profile that can store your settings.

Hello,

I am French and it is not easy to find in the help.
But thank you very much for your answer. My bookmarks seem very stable now.

Goodbye, and long life to K-Meleon.

Hello,

I spoke too fast. My bookmarks again left.

I back up my file, but I would like understand the cause.
Regularly a file backup forms and is replaced by a new empty file. Why?

If somebody has a solution which would solve the problem...

Thank you in advance.

Am no expert there, others know more.
Only have read that sometimes people had that problem when using some "cleaning up" program, or special security settings... Then again, have some doubts if in that case KM would produce a new bookmarks_backup each time??

Click Edit > Configuration > Profile directory
that opens the file explorer of your system. Can you check there if your bookmarks.html gets really updated while the browser is open? If it CAN write but gets deleted only after the browser is closed?

Or test what happens if you place it outside the profile folder? In Bookmarks>Options you can choose another path, anywhere else.

Have heard of the problem, but never suffered from it myself. I see that you are manually backing it all up, but that has to be a pita.

Alain's profile backup program might mitigate this (but not fix it) and you could look at an external bookmark manager as a Hail Mary, like GUL from Disrupted, which has been used here for KM by some.

As for the real problem, hope you find a cure, as this kind of all-the-time mash up is definitely not fun.

As I know, K-meleon can show the limited number of bookmarks in menu. It stores all, but shows not every entry. As i've heard, limit is about 300 bookmarks, but I cannot approve or refute this number.

But I really had such situation, when part of my bookmarks didn't appear at Bookmarks menu

Hello,

The problem seems resolute. I created a new "Profil.ini" (1st Siria message), and now my file is clean (bookmarks.html and bookmarks_backup.html).

Before, I had: bookmarks.htmlxxxx (several), created regularly.

It is difficult to explain everything in English, but the main part it is that everything is OK.

Thank you for all your answers. This forum is very nice.
