Hi I have downloaded K-maleon. How do I make it my default browser so when I click on a link it opens up in K-meleon instead of firefox that is my default now.

Or try with Defaulter in this KM Extensions page.

Some last OS like Vista and Seven have some problems to identificate K-Meleon like your default browser.

You are the second person to report this - in a short time.

Try: 1.st set IE as default browser then use K-Meleon set default.

BTW. This was used a couple of years ago for a similar problem. It is probably a registry issue. No idea what is causing it.

Alternative is manual working on registry


Yes - portable by default. K-Meleon can have its profile in the install folder (an old win 9x feature / no multi user support it is called now ).

The install folder can be anywhere even on USB.

It can be also used on multi boot systems where You would have more %apdata% places. But You have to manually grant writing rights to profiles. :s

well, usually a portable browser is not meant to be made the default
browser - quite on the contrary.

Why not download this current stable 1.5.4 installer?

Then uninstall your prior version, set InternetExplorer as default, restart PC, test: did IE manage to take over from FiFo?

Install 1.5.4, set as default, restart, and you should have better luck this time. If not, come back.

btw, a portable AND dev AND test version as your default? :O
You should not try such a thing again, IMHO.

yes jensen, you're just asking for trouble there. 1.5.0 is quite old now and its gecko engine might not be safe as latest. i believe portableapps has a version based on 1.5.4 or at least 1.5.3.
as soren mentioned portables are not meant as default and may cause problems if you install the portable of a usb. you can always have 2 versions of kmeleon..one for you pc .. use latest 1.5.4 from kmeleon website and one for the run, you can use portableapps version on usb stick or the regular version..check desga's tutorial on making km portable:

That tutorial was from 2010, so ask again here from Desga2 and see what may work with the latest KM beta IMO, of course!
