how to set up k-meleon to download and not to open rar archives ?
each time i left click a *.rar file k-meleon opens it and the right-click (save as..)does not work every time.
how to ..?

what also sometimes work is:
open it with left-click.
Then choose File --> Save As...
Then it is saved as a HTML, but you can rename it.

This doens't work always either.

It's almost always a server problem. Server does not serve rar files as binaries but as default which happens to be text/html usually.

Notify server admin and ask him/her to fix their mime types.

Becuse Opera has adopted an IE bug to ignore Mimetypes.
Netscape, well which Netscape? 4.x or 6+ ?

my netscaspe is still v4.7 and opera v6.04, but thats not important; important is that the developer of k-meleon also use such a kind of 'ignore bug' to make this useful proggie better n'est-ce pas ?

IMO opionion it would be more important to fix the server so the .rar downloaded correctly, becuse there is where the problem originates.

If it's your server set the mimetypes correctly.
If it's not yours, mail the serveradmin o correct his mistake.

Actually, Opera has not adopted the IE bug to ignore MIME types. In Opera Preferences, you can choose whether to determine file types by MIME or not.

Default setting is to behave as buggy IE, and since 90%+ of users probably doesn't know what mimetypes even means, they are likely to leave it at default. So it's a de facto adaption of the IE bug, even if you have the ability to customize or turn it off.

Still it's a server side error and should preferably be fixed server side, not client side.

In worst case scenario (when rightclick save as on the link doesn't work) left click and press stop when the file begins to load in the browser window.
Then rightclick again and choose save as.

That should work in all cases AFAIK.
