This User Agent string defines with which browser name and engine you identify yourself to a website, and depending on that info, a few websites change their scripts etc. You can manually test stubborn sites with different UA strings, before adding them to the automatic switcher list. For most websites it helps to fake as firefox2, because it has the same internal engine as KM1.5x, gecko 1.8. 
But even so, some websites give you only a a rather new gecko 1.9 script, no matter which Firefox version or similar browser visits the site. Then it works only with a gecko 1.9 browser, like FF3 or KM 1.6! Sometimes with additionally claiming again to be FF3, sometimes with the default name.

If faking as Firefox 2, gmx at least doesn't show that warning, but otherwise I can't really test it without an account ;-) They DO say in their FAQ that FF2 is okay... But of course, with a FF3 string, they PERHAPS give only a "modern" script version from gecko 1.9, which would fail again on KM1.5x[/quote]

Just an aside on autoswitcher. In the last month or so, it has failed on a couple of my financial sites, where it used to work. They no longer accept either the default K-Meleon user agent or the FF 2 substitute. What does continue to work everywhere is the SeaMonkey 1.1 user agent string. So I wonder if there is a way to modify auto switcher so that it calls up the SM string instead of the FF one?

Otherwise I could just set the string to SM all the time, but I'd rather not do that.[/quote]
