This overhead slows down the browser. K-Meleon uses a windows-based script language instead, which speeds up the browser and is more secure. As a result, only some of the XUL/XPI exetnsions out there for Seamonkey and Firefox can be adapted for K-Meleon, but that list is growing daily.
