The crash occurs on this line in the style settings (identic in both pages):

.maintitle	{
	font-weight: bold; font-size: 22px; font-family: [color=red]"Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif",[/color]Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	text-decoration: none; line-height : 120%; color : #000000;
}

If I delete the red part, the page opens okay from disk! (in gecko -23)
With the current default gecko -21 there's no prob, obviously it doesn't mind such typos.
Problem is, this is the default stylesheet in a very wide-spread forum-software :-(  (phpbb2)
