Visual Basic is another program language :)

After a project like Mozilla or K-Meleon is started with a compiler it creates AFAIK much extra work to do it with a newer compiler. Newer is not always better.
[url=https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Developer_Guide/Build_Instructions/Windows_Prerequisites]VC8 (Visual Studio 2005) ships the official compiler for building Mozilla/GRE.[/url]. It is more efficient to build with it.
