That`s mainly bollocks and they know it...Most of the time a guy who hangs on to his old pc with old software knows his stuff,And therefore the chances that the computer to become A Target for boots and stuff is minor..

L.o.l that`s mainly true...And anyway do not forget that there is ALWAYS LINUX.

Do not chuck out old computers only because they are not able to run Vista or Windows 7.    INSTALL  LINUX ON THEM INSTEAD ADD COMPIZ FUSION, BERYL AND CALL ALL YOUR FRIENDS WITH Vista or 7  and show them what is all about!!

For real old hardware that can not run windows 2000 or XP there is Puppy linux which loads completly in as little as 35 MB ram and run from there ..RESULT...BALZING FAST..

Heck if you want compiz there are even Puppys with Compiz there..
