it's a satisfactory player but not amazing. i guess it'd make a perfect player for music videos where you can manipulate the sound.

smplayer is a gui front for mplayer. it's not a bad interface and some features are more easily accessed than the default mplayer's gui. personally i prefer the much simpler mplayer gui, but this one makes it much easier for configuration.
i believe vlc is better for windows in general while mplayer shines more on linux.. but if you prefer mplayer in windows, then the smplayer is a must have because its interface has more functions and  has better ease-of-use familiarity.[/quote]
