it could be something like an advertising cookie or worse. I would start to think about running some additional malware software, just to be on the safe side. Malwarebytes, either free (you have to run it) or Pro (interactive) would be a good place to start.

I use FileHippo as a good place to download, but of course, going to the malwarebytes website is also recommended. FileHipp I like because it always lists the latest and greatest along with earlier versions when that is the way to go.
