Hey,

Flash really sux but I must use it to watch youtube, or just about anything else on the web. So, until HTML5 or some other technology finally pushes flash out of the universe forever(YAY!), can you:
- Add much more to your Flash help link and keep it very fresh
- [kmeleon.sourceforge.net]
- Provide detailed install instructions (Mozialla vs IE, etc..)
- Provide ANY suggestions to speed it up, it is REALLY BAD !
- Find a version of flash which works well on older laptops and show links and help to get it up and running.

FYI I did try version 8 or 9 some time back to watch Youtube on a Thinkpad 600E and DID notice a tremendous performance increase. Flash ~used to~ work I believe, but not anymore and WE NEED HELP OUT HERE guys.

And, thanks for the browser as a whole - loveit - that's why I'm posting here.

The Gecko version that the latest k-meleon uses is so old that I that I have to use a firefox 2.0.0.19 agent string, to get sites like "tgdaily.com" working without issue.

Of course, the main page loads(just to insult you haha) but when you click on some specific news...it would otherwise load a "leave a comment" part of the page and nothing else but whiteness lol. No joke. Basically the webpage goes bunkers.

I understand you make efforts to update gecko, but it is seemingly not keeping up with web standards which arguably should come first in development.

A Javascript Blacklist would resolve that.

It would also be desired for sites we don't want to use javascript. Conversely, it could operate on a "trust no site principal" such that we would have to add each site to a whitelist for javascript except that would be annoying
I am certain others would appreciate the feature also.

Hello. I love this browser for its simplicity. And I love the fact that I can use the keyboard so easily to set my preferences. I prefer to work without a mouse, and I would like to find some way of browsing without it (it's a bit long-winded to keep hitting the Tab key). Opera has a nice feature (ctrl+ movement keys) although I don't like Opera, and Firefox has the Mouseless Browsing add-on which looks like it can't be added to K-Meleon; perhaps because it's rather slow and awkward. But it's undeniably useful. It would be great to incorporate something similar - or something very different - into K-Meleon. Of course I can use MouseKeys but it feels like admitting defeat.
Thanks.

Hello,

one of the few features missing from KM is the autocomplete feature for each form field, like FF does.

I found a JS examples site (http://www.javascript-examples.com/autocomplete-demo/) which offers JS autocomplete examples incl. sources,
but I don't know how to tell KM to use one of these scripts.
Maybe someone with more knowledge about the inner workings of KM could
shed some light on this?

And there's another site which offers a jQuery plugin: Autocomplete (http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-autocomplete/).
The latter seems to be rather targeted at web developers,
but I'd like to have the autocomplete feature on every web page,
as normal user.

Thanks for your help:-)

The other missing features:
An easier way to update NoScript and ABP, be it a simple general script

Hello everybody, now don’t get angry because I’m not sure if any of you that are reading this have heard of this before but what I’m requesting for is this.

Page Info - Now if anybody is reading this and have heard of these two web browsers before called SeaMonkey and Mozilla Firefox, then you will know what I’m talking about, now on these two browsers you’ll find a handy tool called - Page Info - its somewhat similar to what K-Meleon can already do and that’s viewing the - Source Code - of a webpage, but the biggest difference is that - Page Info - gives you a simple yet detailed view of what the webpage looks like and the best thing that I like is that it allows someone to easily download stuff like flash games, flash videos and picture, especially if what your downloading is embedded, and so you know the - Source Code - feature in K-Meleon seams to have no way of downloading something that is embedded.

Now I like see this ether as an extension or part of the next future release of the K-Meleon browser, but remember I’m not forcing any to do this its all up to you, and that is it thanks for noticing.

Hello everybody, now what I’m requesting for is this.

Always ask - Now you all know that if you go to file type under preferences in K-Meleon your capable of selecting what the browser should do when it encounters a similar file type right, well what I’m requesting for is another action to be added that will - Always ask before doing anything with the file.

Or

MIME-type Override - As all of you may know when you go under - Edit - there’s a feature there called - MIME Types - that allows you to control file types, well the thing that I’m asking for is that I want this to always override the browser’s actions when encountering any kind of file type. Like always being asked to do what with the file.

Now, I would like at least something similar to what I’m requesting for to be added on to the next future release of the K-Meleon browser, but remember I’m not forcing anybody to do this its all up to the developers, and that is it thanks for noticing.

It would be helpful to have a user stylesheet that doesn't need to restart the whole browser for each little change. The adblock-stylesheet works this way, so it can't be very difficult ;-)

JamesD's new KM-tricks page is the perfect test page (currently), build with frames :) All frames are external, except perhaps the logo:
[kmhdisys.t35.com]
There temporary stylesheets from macros, that use injectCSS (obviously only after a page load) don't work at all.
But adblock works just as perfect as the user stylesheet, in all frames before loading it seems, and also changes in the adblock-sheet work immediately :) It wouldn't harm to have the user styleshoot toggable too, perhaps in preferences.

Another little thing, the search-button-globe would IMHO be much more intuitive for newbies if sorted to the goto-toolbar, by default, instead of to the find-in-page buttons :)

Just realized that pages that aren't loaded completely (e.g. not all images) can't be saved "as is", unless the browser is temporarily set to OFFLINE! Oops...
Otherwise, when saving a page, the download of all the missing items will start "secretly" in the background, which could be an unpleasant surprise if someone doesn't realize this, and pays per data size.
And obviously in offline mode the page is saved from cache: if the empty-cache-button is clicked before saving, only the html-file will get saved, nothing else, although on the screen the page is still displayed with a couple images and the css-stylesheet.

Example: A forum page with a bunch of HUGE images, but images blocked with the exception of the smilies and buttons originating from the forum-domain. Or download stopped in the middle of loading the huge images.

So I think a third option might be not bad :)

My daily job involves reading plenty of pdf files on web browser. I am very sick of Adobe Acrobat reader (even with the latest version) because the Acrobat plug-in is crashing very often after opening and reading about a dozen of pdf files, especially when opening multiple pdf files at one time.

K-meleon (as with other web browsers except Google chrome) suffers the problem of crashing when acrobat reader plug-in goes wrong. It is a disaster, shutting down K-meleon while I have multiple tabs, in the middle of editing something on the web browser (e.g. K-Meleon)

Please re-design to isolate the buggy plug-in from K-Meleon process so that the lousy plug-in does not crash K-Meleon.

Below is an interesting note about Firefox Browser.

[news.cnet.com] Firefox's future features: 3.6, 3.7, and 4.0

Firefox 3.7
For 3.7, the big change will be under the covers: plug-ins such as Flash will be moved to computing processes that are separate from the main browser operation, protecting the latter from problems with the former.

"We've seen more crashing since 3.5 came out, especially in last month or so," Lilly said, pointing to problems from Web-based malware attacks and from issues with Flash. The new design also should help split Firefox up into separate tasks that can take better advantage of all the computing threads offered by multicore processors.

Thanks you very much for implementing and improving a better web browser.

There's a condition "%ifplugin xyz" that works in toolbars.cfg
If it's not too much trouble it Would be nice to also have a "%ifmacro xyz" function :)
Meanwhile there are countless more macros than plugins, and if each would bring it's own toolbar for a single button, it would get horribly confusing with all the countless new toolbars in the view list. So I'd prefer a single toolbar with a couple macro buttons together, and also the ability to insert a macro button into one of the regular toolbars (like extensions-manager next to KM-preferences button). But there's this little problem that specific macro buttons can't be switched on/off automatically...

Ability to set tab bar (or any other bar, or all bars) to hide out or slide-down from the top of screen when in full screen, like it is for example in IE - when in full screen "touching" the top edge of screen "slides down" the navigation bar.

As it is now, when in full screen, to change tabs I have to hit F11 to come back to windowed mode, click thenext tab, and hit F11.

Clear All privacy shortcut key combo ala Firefox (4 replies)

I have recently installed K-Meleon 1.5.3 on an old, low spec PC and after many years since last using it, it's nice to see the progress that has been made.

On most PC's I use Firefox and frequently clear all privacy data in the course of browsing using it's CTRL+SHIFT+DELETE shortcut, which I prefer instead of using the menu option.

K-Meleon's default Privacy plugin has a 'Clear All' menu option but it's nestled in a sub, sub menu and with no shortcut key combo aka 'Accelerator' (in K-Meleon speak).

I read through the docs and figured out how to add such a shortcut by adding:
%ifplugin privacy
CTRL SHIFT VK_DELETE = macros(kPrivacy_ClearAll)
%endif
to accel.cfg in my Profile's directory (I like how this shortcut is now listed beside the menu option, as a reminder).

How about adding this as a default accelerator in future releases?

Block images by size option? (1 reply)

I'm reading some forums where people like to post screenshots and huge banners and huge animated gifs, and some of them don't care if a single posting contains already over 20MB. So they see no need to convert their 500kB-VLC-png's to 70kB jpgs. Each time I think it would be a nifty little gimmick, to block pics by size :-) So that forum buttons and smilies still work, and perhaps "normal" pics are loaded too, but not each and every time when viewing one of those certain threads all the 20MBs are loaded all over again. If blocking images completely there are no smilies anymore either :-(
Not sure if pixel-size or kB would be a better limit, perhaps by choice... And not sure at all if it can be done at all... but perhaps to block only png and allow gifs or so, that would be easier...? Only temporary of course, e.g. with a right-click on the image-button in privacy bar. Or perhaps this exists already somewhere in the settings jungle, never sure *blush*
Oh, I just realized for most forums it actually works to put their URL in the image-whitelist, then click image-block before opening those certain threads - works nicely!! :-)
Alas, not for all, some have even the basic forum buttons spread all over the web, oh well...

But can anyone tell me why in the world I don't see any placeholders or icons for blocked images?? Is it intentional, are the settings for "missing images" only for those that can't be found at all, or have I messed again something??
(Like I managed somehow to have the cookie exceptions button vanished from my preferences tab, but only in my customized KM, the "clean" version still has it ;-)
