Now at me at emergency end of work of the computer the browser cache is not nulled at restart. Confuses only that at some acquaintances the cache is all the same nulled. And how the situation at you will be? In general someone has reasons on this theme?

I don't know who is the webmaster nowadays, that's why I post here.

One of my friends had big problem finding unofficial gecko updater today.
I must admit I myself couldn't find it as easily as I wish it should be, I simply forgot they are on extensions central...
Sure I have found it in the end under the very last link on the resources page pointing to extension central, but I'm not surprised my buddy decided to rather email me and ask for help than dig through all the links there.
So here's a pitch:
add a link to K-Meleon's Updater page right below the "Latest Stable Release" on the download page, please! (or somewhere else on the download page, but since it is the most important from all of the downloads it should be next to latest version IMHO). Please? :)

Yes, I know the gecko updaters are UNOFFICIAL builds by desga, but since there are no other official updaters, and these are as good as they can be, they are de facto same as official updates (if there were any).

Fore some reason the value above does not seems to have an effect in K-Meleon 1.5.3 anymore..

No matter what i do the dropdown url bar history tingy keeps on staying there...Went to F2 and tried to disable it from there but it requires a positive integer ...

Now if there is something i hate the most is having the stupid drop down ulr history bar poping up in my face everytime i type www.cor .....

The drop down sugestion box whatever it is is very annoying ....is there any way to remove it?>
Any ideas?
i really love the privacy bar!! That's one reason why i use K-meleon. I edited the toolbars.cfg to my needs with a text-editor.
There you can add buttons to the privacy bar to activate or stop some things (which are also within the main menu) for easier and faster toggling.
I want to toggle Flash too easily within my privacy menu bar! (I don't mean the "kill flash" button.)
It's named Apollo K-M. If you are unhappy with the throbber feel free to replace it with a throbber of your own choice. I should say that I'm not satisfied with the throbber myself because it is not showing correctly. There should be a black background but instead it shows some rubbish cololr if someone can fix it I would appreciate it so in the zipfile you will find the original gifanimation I used.

I have been joining a lot of sites recently and am getting fed up with having to keep retyping my 3 different email addresses, passwords, name/username etc. I know that once i am a member i can have them filled in for me but i got to thinking, wouldn't it be good if there was a field at the top of my browser where i could put all the words and phrases i used often, so that when needed, I could just drag and drop onto the page or at least copy/paste. even better if you put the cursor on in the field you wanted to fill and then double clicked on the appropiate word. this could be done in a drop down list like the history on the url field is, or something similar. somewhere they are easy to get to. obviously these would only appear in your own browser and maybe they could be turned off if someone else was going to use the pc. I also think it would be great if kmeleon did this first as it is my favorate browser and i would like to stick with it.

what does everyone else think about this?

may be some of you have some extra ideas for this.

Getting K-Meleon and Gecko 1.9.1 to run under Win9x (9 replies)

I don't know if this has been discuss already or not. Are there any plans for trying to get a future version of K-Meleon which uses Gecko 1.9.1 running natively on Win9x ? I did some research and it seems like it should be doable without too much effort.

The following functions are used by Gecko. These functions are all supported by MSLU (unicows). Note there are probably other Win32 Unicode functions used as well.

* DispatchMessageW
* GetMonitorInfoW
* GetOpenFileNameW
* GetSaveFileNameW
* GetWindowLongW
* PeekMessageW
* SetWindowLongW
* SHBrowseForFolderW
* SHGetPathFromIDListW

The following functions are used by Cairo and Thebes (Mozilla wrapper around Cairo).

* GdiFlush
* GetGlyphIndicesA
* GetGlyphIndicesW
* GetWorldTransform
* ModifyWorldTransform
* SetWorldTransform
* GetGraphicsMode (supported in Win9x but GM_ADVANCED is returned in Win2000+ only)
* SetGraphicsMode (supported in Win9x but GM_ADVANCED parameter is Win2000+ only)

Interestingly there is already some support in the code for WinCE (probably for the Fennec mobile browser) which doesn't support these functions either. There's a file for WinCE which defines stubs for the second set of functions (except for GetGlyphIndices) and redefines GM_ADVANCED so things will build - [mxr.mozilla.org]
There's also code to handle GetGlyphIndices but without any character validation -
[mxr.mozilla.org]

Gecko 1.8.1 (SeaMonkey 1.1) has its own GetGlyphIndices function which is not API compatible with the Win2000+ function but could probably be reworked to match.

I suspect it wouldn't be too much effort to make Gecko 1.9.1 to work under Win9x:
- A patch much like the one for WinCE to supply stubs for Win2000+ functions used by Cairo and Thebes.
- Code in an #if (WINVER >= 0x400 && WINVER < 0x500) block to handle GetGlyphIndicesA and GetGlyphIndicesW. There's already shunt code in the tree to do this for WinCE which could be expanded upon later if needed.
- Build to use MSLU which would have no effect on Win2000 or later but would allow Win9x support as long as unicows.dll is present.

One catch-22 is that it seems you need MSVC 7.1+ to build things which of course doesn't run on Win9x. MSVC 6.0 is the last version that runs on Win9x.
