I am prepared to convert the C++ code to NASM as I lost my Visual Studio 98 (Microsoft Windows, VS6). I'm still trying to get Visual Studio to install off of a VS98-SP6 install, but that might take a lot more effort than converting the code to NASM. Who knows? I'm willing to dive into NASM some more. Is anyone out there willing to help? I know it ends up aimed at Windows computer systems, but NASM runs and compiles for other OS too.

I am getting ready to do quite a bit of programming with NASM, and I can point out some similarities to the C environment as far as the programming structures go. NASM supports a high level MACRO language and I work ONLY with I86+ processors, so while I hold some knowledge of processors and the language, I no longer have a MASM compiler and the other compilers that came with the VS98 package. And while I downloaded the Windows 7 SDK, I currently work on a system with a Dual Core Pentium, and lean quite a lot to the NASM software.

Those of you who work in assembly language should get the drift I imply.

Hello,

I don't know if this has already been discussed, but I was wondering if there was a way to fix the problem with pages not displaying correctly? For instance, Youtube only loads some things partially and the links are not lined up on the page so that I cannot click on them. Any suggestions?

Im not actually a c++ programmer so probably thats why Im having trouble.

I have been trying to get K-meleon to work but to no avail. There seems to be different suggestions of how to do this when you google... There is documentation dating back to 2001 even that is probably not working anymore.

I installed virtual XP, Visual Studio 2003 .net and followed this guide instead since it sounded easy enough:

The Easy way

Build requirements
■ K-Meleon build environment (based on 1.5a1 source code)
■ Microsoft Visual C++. Version 7.1 (Visual Studio 2003).

Building

Open src\KMeleon.sln in VS2003, choose the configuration (Release or Release Unicode) and build. Doesn't work? Use the mailing list or the developement forum if you have any questions. You can also update the source code using a CVS client (look at WinCVS or TortoiseCVS).

With windows 7 Virtual XP.

First off when building the project according to this guide it crashes due to the folder release/components not being there. So most probably what is not mentioned is that you somehow need to build the mozilla dlls...

After building successfully you get an error:

nsp4.dll missing when running the program. So I download Firefox 2.0 and get all the .dll files etc etc.
Now running K-meleon.exe with all the DLLs just results in silent fail. Running it in debug mode gives an error in mfcembed.cpp "Debug Assertion Failed"? ... Maybe the dlls does not correspond to the linked non built dll files... But I dont know how to build the dll files from the mozilla sources?

How is this supposed to work? How do I compile nsp4.dll and the rest of the needed files? Why is there so many crappy old guides that dont work? Seems I get different guides everytime I google it.

Can I please get instructions on how to build k-meleon easily, I dont want to have to fix the code to work with newer versions of vc without even getting it to work with a sln file from 2003 and provided with a complete working project??

I also have VS 2005, 2008, 2010 in windows 7.

What I am looking for is a minimalistic webbrowser that doesnt need installation and can be run from a network share in all x86 windows environments without a hassle. But I also want to be able to make some modifications like removing certain functions etc... But that comes later.

Hope to get some good answers. Sourcefiles, instructions of what environment to set up that will definetely work without modifying the source.

I just made a small script to create compressed (WinRar) backup on ONE click, with auto-Date and Auto Number.
You can create as many backups as you want. All backups will have the current date and a serial number.
1- create a file in the K-Meleon macro folder with the name of "profback.kmm"
copy paste these lines to that file and save:

Edit and in "ProfBack.bat" in order to make correct path as in your installation. Example of what I use is as follows:

I can create a macro. As suggested I create it in the "personal workbook". It always works fine. However, the next day when I attempt to find the macro that I created previously it does not exist. What am I doing wrong?

According to the 'Development' page KM 1.6.0 Beta 3 was released on 2011-12-12. However, it has been removed from the download page.

Can I get this version from someplace else? Or was it removed for a good reason?

The version of NS is 2.5 now. And you now have full options now with it.

There is an issue with frames with NS as it is with FireFox.
You can turn off the frames in about:config but it still works
when tested.

All the security works, but the frames is still on.
K-meleon db 1.7 types works no frames, but the NS version of 1.6 does not.

K-meleon is getting behind, the engine in it is old. Mozilla ended the 3.6's
and there is no way get anything above the 3's to work.
My versions are more on security than compliance!!!!!!!!!!

Websites today are moving along & K-meleon can't always deal with these new websites.
The K-meleon-db 1.7 is more secure than the Firefox 3.6 it is based on with the same about:config settings.

But as I seen the K-meleon 1.6 NS is now the most secure.
Setting up NoScript with websites on the white list might be
hard in a way. But can be done.

It's even worse to set up K-meleon with a locked profile.
But the security is worth it! It stands with FireFox 19+ as is security.
K-meleon gets a 13 on security at http://www.browserscope.org
The K-meleon-db types with me gets attacked a lot & it does hold up
with a locked profile!

Again K-meleon is aimed at security not compliance!

I some issues with websites seems to be my settings & how websites react to them.
This happens with Firefox also I noticed. It's a file in your profile.
"webappsstore.sqlite" Some websites make it pop up. It's like a cookie kind of thing I think, so you can be tracked.
Just open it in note pad & delete all in it.
Then type in: Privacy Program
save it & set the file to hidden, Read-only archive!
Now nothing can be saved on the file.
This will help you in some websites!

There is a new K-meleon 1.6db+NS (no replies)

There is a new K-meleon-db type. K-meleon 1.6db+NS.
The NS is the "NoScript" version 2.4.8
It only works in the old K-meleon 1.6 engine.
The K-meleon 1.7 has no effect.

It is set up from a Firefox 3.6+ NS setup
with everything cleaned up & with max security.
A clean page for you!

Because of being from Firefox, there is no NS options.
You can still set add to white list &
delete from white list etc.
All works but going in to the options does not.

K-Meleon-1.6db+NS gets a max of 13 on the security
test at: http://www.browserscope.org/security/test

That is with all the KMFILES on, with "frames" on
& "Secure-High" off. And "Block page colors" turned on.

Show CSS background images from a page (no replies)

As I needed this because more and more sites use background images via CSS (that don't let much interaction with K-meleon) I made an slightly change to the DocInfo_lstImages macro.

Before continue reading I warn that the following code is from the previous versions of K-meleon as I'm still those old and functional macros. There are few (very few) differences with the newer, as variables and some statements declarations changes, but the functionality is exactly the same. Indeed the code for this macro, almost all, has been carried from previous versions.

Why I tell this?, because if you want to adapt it to the new macro code (I mean from 1.x) would be better than me (that is the reason why I publish it here). Anyway, the difference, as it is added code, not modifications, can be added to the new macro without much dig, and is show in bold (in other color some styling changes, but not necessary for functionality) and all is inside the JSdoit declaration:

(it has been quoted to avoid forum deformation, remember to re-join each line)

Remember, in color, styling and just in bold the added code.

There are, also, several corrections with missing brackets '{' & '}' that also have been carried to the new macro. Maybe this can cause problems as caused to me this afternoon.

How do you keep the focus on the current tab while clicking a link which opens in a new tab. The focus always seems to go to that new tab.

I think IE 8.0 does what I want by default.
Again, Just want to keep the focus on the current page even if I click a link to open another tab while Im still on that original page.

If there is a simple setting to check in the preferences, I cant find it

If not, is it possible to handle a protocol without registering it in the system registry ?

As under Linux, mailto: doesn't work, I want to fabricate some variables usable by the macro.

Exemple:

Hi,

big fan of K-Meleon's customization possibilities.

However, I want to include within the privacy bar a Block Advertisement button which I can't find anywhere in the toolbars.cfg code of the AuraAlpha(Large) skin. It seems odd, since all the privacy toggle options of the menu are included in it (except for the Block Flash option which you can disable by toggling JavaScript but which is no issue to me).

Am I missing something?

As I see, the community had grown up and gets ready to the new step in KM evolution.

So it seems a good idea to start new thread devoted to the organizational issues, offers, suggestions and other community-related stuff.

Some words about myself.
I'm KM user from Russia. Knowing it since 0.7 and using as main browser since 1.02 thanks to Quicksilver Tears KM 1.02 Pro.
I'm not a programmer anyway, sorry. Just power user, able to be beta-tester and take part in popularization as well as planning the promotion campaign of product.

I have some thoughts about KM future and how to let it survive (this is closely related to the development as well as promo things).

Some time ago it seemed KM dies but today I saw new wave of enthusiasm and passion in words of community members. So we can join our forces and Reload KM Matrix or just try to :-)

What I see - there are much 'holes' which could be filled without programming skills. KM needs:
- renewed main site
- special rich-media promo site
- some crucial forum updates: new stickies, FAQs and more
- may be some how-to's with actual tasks and tweaks

This is field where I can be useful member of community.

More general I think KM needs new resources - users, developers, media, money, partners, etc.
And I'm ready to write down my vision of next steps in order to present it for your discussion, folks!

Sorry for some audaciousness and overtaking upon myself but I just want KM being alive forever!

And I'm extremely grateful to all who spends time and efforts to support this beauty!

I have spent more then a week in translating the K-Meleon 1.6.0 to Chinese Simplified,now it's finally accomplished. :) I have tried it in my system,and it worked fine!

I think the official program and some friends may need this :cool:

During my localization work,I have referred to the incomplete K-Meleon1.5zh-CN_locale file,and the locale files of Firefox 3.6.24,also some files from here. Thanks to these all!

Hi , i was wondering if it's possible get Header, read html page or send a click to a button to a K-Melon tab from .Net Application.
I tried many gecko WebBrowser (like GeckoFX) but doenst work as i want. Until today when i discovered K-Melon but it's a Real Browser.
So i wonder if it's possible do what i ask before from a .net application

Very often, I decide to finish the session, principally when there's a problem, but it works very very slooooowwwwwww. The only (not so good) solution is to disconnect the electric current, sometimes I do it.
When I begin, I see the question: do you want to restore your last session? I never want this. It means that the jackanappas (the computer) lost time to memorize what I was looking in the last session.
Isn't it possible to create a "fast, quick finish" that doesn't lost time to memorize the site that the user is looking?

Hi everyone,

I am trying to get K-meleon built, up and running soon so I can hopefully start contributing. I tried setting it up with the easy way(download of K-meleon build environment), I then tried building it but it failed on 3 projects.

I am using Visual Studio 2010 I'm not sure if I am missing something or if this may be an issue. Here are the lines that appear to cause the failure:
