Help needed ..Pink Panther Theme messed my search button (6 replies)

Right ....The stupid PInk Panther theme just messed my K-meleon settings I worked to hard to set...

NOw after i installed the stupid PInk Panther theme my girlfriend has noted that the search button in the tool bar is misbehaving...

Whenever she is typing something in Japanese the google displays garbled charachters only...

Funny enough when i am using CRTL G and type in Japanese the output from the Google is perfectly normal ...the characters are perfectly displayed...

Same thing for the URL Search Bar....Whenever she is typing something in Japanese the in the address bar google displays normal charachters ...

I looked around within search.xml menus.cfg and all the obvious places....

It is almost as if the tool bar search button is connected to a different macro or a different search engine..

So...does anyone knows a way around this??

SO what am i missing ???

Anyone else hate the default K-Meleon icon - that goofy lizard face?

I made a replacement icon based on the circular one used on this website but with slightly brighter colors.

It was easy to change the shortcut icons but, at the moment, I can't figure out how to change the default icon in the exe.

Question on Default Explorer Skin (7 replies)

I have tried to contact the developer of that skin but the e-mails have come back.

Just over a month ago I started using the K-Meleon web browser. After I got familiar with it I started to check some other things out. I found the Default Explorer Skin download at the K-Meleon site. I wanted the look of IE since I am so used to IE6 after using it for so many years. I am very happy with the KM Explorer Skin.
However, I have a question about something that I would like to add, I would like a "Go" button for the URL bar to work. I am able to get the "Go" to show ... I took the # marks away from the "Go" button in the toolbars.cfg and the "Go" button is visible but it doesn't work ... if I type in another address, nothing happens. I would like to know what else has to be done to get the "Go" button to actually work or is it too complicated to get that button to work. Since I had it on IE6, it would be nice to have it here also, if possible.

Sorry I haven't been following KM's "history" but I used 0.7 on a Windows 95 machine years ago and the throbber was in that. How come the newer versions don't feature the k-meleon throbber - s/he's cute!

Skin/Theme for K-Meleon v1.5 & Win2k and above

DOWNLOAD & INSTALL (Setup File)

KT3 is based on Tiggz's GT3 OS theme for WindowBlinds. It's made to work for darker themed desktops. For XP users, with the background disabled, it really blends well with the visual styles: Peppered Salty 3 (pictured below) and Concave Dark. All images referenced in toolbars.cfg are alpha-transparent so it should look good on most dark desktops.

I was wondering, where can I find different, or how do I make the lil Throbber.avi movie clips that play in KM? I have an animated thing I would like to use, but it's not avi.

Also was wondering...I can make a skin now, but when I download an already made one, and look in the folder, all of the back.bmp are real small strip like looking, and when I save an image, and convert it bmp, it's huge, and doesn't look as good.

Privacy Bar for the Klassic skin with added options to toggle on/off:

Works with K-Meleon v1.5.3 and (hopefully) upwards

Dependencies:
main.kmm and toolbars.cfg

Shut down K-Meleon and extract the folders in the respective locations.
Before replacing the files in order to avoid any inconveniences rename:
privbar_green.bmp to privbar_green.bmp.old (located in your Klassic folder)
privbar_red.bmp to privbar_red.bmp.old (located in your Klassic folder)
toolbars.cfg to toolbars.cfg.old (located in your Klassic folder)
main.kmm to main.kmm.old (located in your macros folder)

Little toolbar for personal HOTLINKS 0-9 (12 replies)

A very simple little toolbar for your hotlinks 0-9.
Those defined under Tools/Hotlinks..., not the opera hotLIST, which I tend to confuse all the time due to that almost identic name!! ;-)

Example for a customized hotlinks-bar:

hotlink-0: kmeleon.sourceforge.net/forum
hotlink-1: translate.google.com (e.g. for translating own text before posting it in foreign forum)
hotlinks-2+3: Another two of my frequent sites, don't have own icons, so I just "painted" something ;-)
hotlinks-4-9: Either not defined, or they are but didn't feel like painting own icons, or can remember what number is what page ;-)

Those are the plain number bars, just right-click one and "Save as...":

A click on the little arrows at the end opens the settings page, where you can enter your hotlinks and define if they shall open in a new window. A right-click on any hotlink leads to the settings for hotlinks, mouse gestures etc.

HOW TO INSTALL:
- Put one of the pics above in the folder of your skin, and rename it to myhotlinks.bmp
(Or download the zip that is attached at the bottom of this post, includes a readme-file, and extract it into your skin folder)
- Make a safety copy of your toolbar.cfg (same folder), then add the text below into the original cfg (any text editor, like notepad)
- Restart K-Meleon (and maybe the KM-loader, if you use that one)

If the toolbar isn't there yet, click on View/Toolbars to switch it on.
If you prefer one of the other hotlink-pics (with a different size), rename that one to myhotlinks.bmp, then update the toolbar size in the toolbars.cfg, this line: &Hotlinks 0-9(width,height){
If you prefer using your own icons or whatever, look at the bottom of this text for more info

You can change those simple number icons and add your own ones, e.g. pretty website-icons.
Those are most likely higher than those number-pics, so you may need to update the height in the toolbar.cfg :
&Hotlinks 0-9(width,height){

To change a dull number icon into something prettier, take a screenshot from your favorite website to get their icon, then edit it in MS Paint and play around with it, until you like it and it doesnt get bigger then 16x16 (normal) or 20x20 (extra big). Or invent an own one. Then paste it into your myhotlinks.bmp, replacing the number as defined in your hotlinks.
Of course the size is completely free, just remember if you expand the WIDTH you must adapt all other buttons too.
The HEIGHT is less critical, if an icon is higher than the toolbar setting in the cfg-file, the lower part seems to get ignored by the browser :-)

Just a couple backgrounds, except the first few only ultrasimple gradients, but nice colors (Hey I've read that girls are more into colors and guys more into geometry, for me certainly true - tiny variations of shades do make a difference *grin*)

To "install" download a pic, put it into your skin folder, rename your old "back.bmp" into something like "back.bmp.old", and the new one into "back.bmp"
After the next start of K-Meleon it should work (if not, you probably start KM with the loader, that one must be restarted too if I read that right?)

If anyone would like to take one and distribute it with his own skin, just take it.

I tested this "new" Internet browser. This software open Webpages very fast and have only the necessary tools to navigate. Forget problems with toolbars or add-ons.
All is perfect but I note only one thing rare. Why K-meleon use a dinosaur icon? The icon looks like Yoshi from Super Mario or Dino from Flintstones only this is green instead of purple. I think this icon should be changed for the next version of K-meleon.

Karameleon is a modification of Alex W's classic theme for Firefox: Charamel and its derivative: Silvermel. Almost all bitmaps in Karameleon make use of alpha-transparency that was introduced in K-Meleon in version 1.5. As a result, it's not compatible with v1.1, but that's a minor trade-off compared to the benefit of having it seamlessly integrate with all backgrounds. The screenshot above is with the included background enabled. The screenshot below is with the background disabled within a Windows 7 visual style for XP. The caramel-colored gecko throbber morphs into and out of a caramel swirl in keeping with the theme.:)

Hey Guys,

I was gonna do the small update necessary for InTheDark to work with tabs in KM v1.5, but I decided to just go ahead and port the theme I use for Firefox. Thus, Knasa Knight Launch was born :)

Download & Install

Install into KM's main directory e.g. C:\Program Files\K-Meleon\
After the installation is complete KM should automatically be switched to KnasaKnightLaunch, but an additional restart may be needed to see the complete theme. Hope you like!

Use this thread for any questions/comments/help etc...

Any KM users out there have dark, black-based desktop themes? Well I jumped on the bandwagon earlier this year and judging from the screenshots at Deviant Art, so have many others. It's probably because of Vista. Anyway, when I started to use KM again recently there were no skins/themes to match, so I made/ported one :-) Blends well with the XP visual styles Haemo, Concave Dark & TypeZero among others.

Download & Install

The download file is based on Alain's extension/skin setup file which makes installation ALOT easier :-). Just install into KM's main directory e.g. C:\Program Files\K-Meleon\
After the installation is complete KM should automatically be switched to InTheDarK.
