Documentation - Reference - 3rd Party Plugin Files

The following lists the plugin files that should be installed for the listed plugins to work with K-Meleon. These files may not be all of the files necessary for the plugin to function properly. Please consult the accompanying notes for assistance.

To review the plugins recognized by K-Meleon, enter about:plugins in the URL bar. 3rd party plugins are not listed under Edit - Preferences - Plugins. The only plugins listed there are K-Meleon specific plugins.

Required 3rd Party Plug-in Files

Cosmo Player Plugin

Cosmo Player is for viewing 3d (VRML worlds; suffix *.wrl; MIME types model/vrml and x-world/x-vrml) in browsers and can be downloaded from:

After downloading, run the installation. It will ask you whether you want to use it as a standalone browser or with other (unsupported) browser. Choose the second option (unsupported browser) and define your K-Meleon plugins directory in the installation. This should work and after that, the following files will be in your K-Meleon Plugins directory:

  • npcosmop211.dll
  • npcosmop211.jar

If they are not there, try to locate those files on your hard disk and copy them to the K-Meleon plugins folder. After that, Cosmo should work with K-Meleon.

Quicktime Plugin

A standalone installer for the entire program can be downloaded from:

Just run the installation and copy the following files to the K-Meleon plugins folder (if you already have QuickTime, you may find the following files already on your hard disk in the C:\Program Files\QuickTime\ directory or wherever you have installed QT; otherwise, those files will be there after the installation):

  • npqtplugin.dll
  • npqtplugin1.dll
  • npqtplugin2.dll
  • npqtplugin3.dll
  • npqtplugin4.dll
  • npqtplugin5.dll
  • QuickTimePlugin.class

Windows Media Player Plugin for Netscape

The plugin you need to install is in the file wmpplugin.exe. That file can be downloaded from http://download.microsoft.com/download/winmediaplayer/nsplugin/6.4/WIN98/EN-US/wmpplugin.exe

In the case of no Netscape installed, the installation copies the required tiles into the directory C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\. If the files are not in that folder, try to search for the following from anywhere on your hard disk. The files that should be copied to the K-Meleon plugins directory are:

  • npwmsdrm.dll
  • npdsplay.dll
  • npds.zip
