Introduction

K-Meleon allows users to enable, disable and modify the Background Image that is used with the toolbars in the K-Meleon browser. By default, the image used is similar to that used by Internet Explorer 4 and is turned on.

Enable/Disable

You can turn the background image on and off by selecting Edit - Preferences and choosing the Display option.To turn off the background image, uncheck the box labeled Show Toolbar Background. The next time that you start K-Meleon, the background image will be removed.

Customize

The default K-Meleon background image is a bitmap image. You can replace the default background image with your own custom bitmap image. To change the image, select Browse and go to the location of your custom image. Select the image and click on OK. The next time that you start K-Meleon, your new background image will appear on the toolbars. Here's an example using the Clouds.bmp image from Windows:

When creating your custom image or when selecting an image to use, be aware of the following issues:

• Your custom image needs to be in the Bitmap format (.BMP).
• Your image should be a minimum of 640 pixels wide and 124 pixels high.
• Use a design that will tile properly if your screen resolution is set higher than 640 x 480.
• Avoid colors that will hide the black text used on the toolbars. Black and dark blue backgrounds can obscure the toolbar text.
